Merengue is a fun, energetic dance that originated in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. According to Haitian legend, Merengue was created by a ruler who had a lame son. To make the prince feel better about his affliction, all the people began to dance as if he too was lame.
The Dominican version of the story says that Merengue originated during a fiesta organized in honor of a returning war hero. When the brave warrior got up to dance, he limped on his left leg – and everyone else began to favor their left legs as well!
Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, Merengue dance is perfect for anyone who wants to learn quickly and have fun at any party!
